About MAD

Welcome to the Montrose Area Democrats Website

Montrose Area Democrats is a group of concerned neighbors who want to change things. We want to elect officials who will take an interest in our unique neighborhood, and we want to help promote Democratic causes. Causes like equal rights, justice and protection for all. We're concerned about pollution, healthcare, reproductive rights, gun control and hate crimes. We are helping to take back Harris County, and we need you. Whether you want to work on campaigns, help out at meetings and events, or do grassroots work, we can make a difference and have some fun when we join together.

MAD is open to anyone with an interest in Montrose. Our members reflect our diverse population. We are a volunteer organization with no paid members or officers.

What We Stand For

  • Preserving and enhancing our unique neighborhood.
  • Cleaning up our too-polluted city.
  • Equal opportunity for all citizens.
  • Rewarding honest work with a living wage and a tax system that is fair.
  • Quality education that gives all citizens the opportunity to reach their potential.
  • Freedom from government interference in our private lives.
  • Security in our homes and safety on our streets.
  • Separation of Church and State to preserve the freedom to pursue our beliefs.

  • What We Do
  • VOTER EDUCATION: we invite speakers and candidates to come talk about their campaigns and issues.
  • CANDIDATE EDUCATION: we inform them about what matters to Montrosians.
  • VOTER REGISTRATION: we deputize, train and organize volunteers to do voter registration.
  • CAMPAIGNING: we volunteer on different campaigns to do mailers, blockwalk, etc.
  • GOTV: we help to Get Out The Vote by phoning every Democrat in Montrose and reminding them to vote.

  • MAD volunteers give up their time and money to elect Democrats who will represent us. How involved you get, and what work you do is entirely up to you. We help you find ways to contribute that match your style.
